Our promise
Once Upon a Pod is built for families. We collect the minimum information needed to run the app, we never sell your data, and we never show ads. Kid-facing surfaces have no free-text input, no social features, and no way for a child to share personal information.
What we collect
Account: When you install the app, an anonymous account is created automatically. If you sign in with email, we store that email so you can sync across devices. We never see your password — authentication is handled by Supabase.
Household data: We store your household profile configuration (kid profiles, age bands, content filters) so the app works across your devices. This is tied to your anonymous or signed-in account, not to your child's identity.
Listening progress: We store where you left off in episodes so you can resume. This stays on our server, tied to your account, so it syncs across devices.
Subscription data: Apple processes your payment. We receive only the transaction verification needed to unlock premium features. We never see your credit card number.
Analytics: We do not use third-party analytics services. We do not track you across other apps or websites.
What we don't collect
- No personal information about your children
- No advertising identifiers
- No cross-app tracking
- No microphone or camera access
- No location data
Audio streaming
The app streams audio directly from each podcast's own RSS feed. Your listening data is sent to the podcast host (like any podcast app), not to us. We have no control over what podcast hosts collect — check their privacy policies if you're curious.
Data retention
We keep your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we remove your household data and listening progress within 30 days. Transaction records are kept as required for accounting and tax compliance.
Children's privacy
The app is designed for children to listen, not to input information. Parents set up profiles and manage settings. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have, contact us and we will delete it promptly.
Your rights
You can request a copy of your data or ask us to delete it at any time. Email hello@onceuponapod.com and we'll take care of it.
